This project felt a little backwards, but I enjoyed it. Take photos then choose a book or play that the photo symbolizes. We needed to pick a simple object and take pictures of the object in all kinds of angles and lighting situations. I had a hard time choosing an object, and randomly grabbed a mason jar. Out of all the pictures I took of it, I loved the dark pictures with a single spot light on it. I liked the way the jar lit up and it took a life of it's own.

Choosing a book or play was not too hard once I looked up classic books and plays online. When I came across "Our Town" I knew it was it.

Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, is a minimalist play (no sets at all), about people in a small town. It follows the lives of a few citizens as they fall in love, get married, and deal with death and loss. The town in the play represents all towns, we are the characters as we all have these life experiences that shape who we are.

The mason jar symbolizes similar concepts that the play does: life, timelessness, comfort, and time lost. We think of our grandmothers, canning, and a simple happy, life. I hope I'm able to adequately blend the two together.
